Hi Gracie, no worries. Surprisingly they asked for a copy of my investment account in Malaysia over email. Not sure why but I provided them anyway. In my reply I also mentioned that I would like to take advantage of the favorable savings rate and currency appreciation XD . I got my Maybank SG account activated within 2 days. Only catch is need to maintain min. 500SGD in the account

Yes, you should be able to unless CIMB changes their policy again. BigPay also has promo for first international transfer if I remember.

Does this mean I can now transfer the initial deposit SGD1k to my CIMB SG account? (I intend to use BIGPAY, is that feasible?) Thanks! 🙂

Sorry to hear what you're going through, Melvin. I suggest to clarify with them transparently since Investments can come in many forms (including their own CIMB SG Fixed Deposit Promos). Or maybe they're just tightening it now due to some of the spotlights on Singapore recently.

They asked for the purpose of me opening account. I said for savings and investment purposes. They asked me to provide proof and documents of my investment account in SG for approval. If no documentation, then likely my account will be rejected. i have not opened any investment account in SG yet since I only plan on saving money in SGD first before opening any investment account. =(

Hello Leonard, e-KYC Transfer is a must as bank need to establish and verify that you're indeed the rightful owner. If you have only done the $1000 transfer (via Wise I presume), bank can't establish your identity from there hence it's crucial to have at least an own-account-transfer (from CIMB MY to SG) of a minimum $1.

Cheers
Gracie

I registered for a CIMB Fast saver account about 2 weeks ago. I have completed the initial steps up until the deposit of the SGD1,000 from my CIMB Malaysia account to my CIMB SG account. However, I have not received the approval notification (email of SMS) yet.

Also, I did not perform the e-KYC transfer of SGD1.00. Is this necessary and how can I do this if it is indeed required?

Hope to hear from you.

Thanks! 🙂

I have applied for the Fast Saver account almost 2 weeks ago but yet to receive approval from CIMB.

Reading your steps above, I realized I have not done the $1 e-KYC transfer. Is this different from the $1000 transfer (I have done this) ?

CIMB Singapore just sent me an email saying that I have not perform at least 1 of the following:
• Transfer funds via FAST from your other personal Singapore Bank account in Singapore to your new CIMB Singapore Bank account
• Provide valid documents required for account activation

Any advice? 🙂
