Ringgit Freedom’s March 2026 Updates

Updated June 7, 2026

~3 mins read

I have decided to write down on a monthly basis all my thoughts, feelings, progressions, decisions made throughout my financial journey and anything about life really. Hopefully this will shed some insights for all readers, and even myself when I look back onto the past. If you're interested in my past month updates, take a look at Monthly Updates and I hope you enjoy reading!

My Life & Mental State

It took me longer than I should to prepare a quarterly snapshot this time around - mainly due to the move to Hong Kong and now having to deal with multiple budgets (Actual Budget), currencies, etc.

I basically "went back in time" and updated my Excels as if it was March 2026 so that I can capture a snapshot at that point-in-time. Since it's already June when I'm posting this - it'll just be a simple financial snapshots without much yapping - I'll talk more about my life updates during the upcoming Mid-Year reviews.

Now, going back to our usual monthly update for my finances and portfolios.

My Financials

Expenses

I'll need to figure out how to show this section going forward since it's a bit of a mix expenditures - between my two life's, both in Hong Kong (mostly) and in Malaysia (residual expenditures). Overall, all I can say is that the first quarter had a huge upfront costs due to the move to Hong Kong and the need to purchase large furniture's/appliances (thankfully subsidized/covered by Company)

Savings Rate

Savings Rate as of March 2026 (Normalized)

Emergency Jar

3 months into the first quarter of the year - and I am still figuring out my average monthly spends. It's a bit difficult due to the spikes in January/February but hopefully we'll get better clarity soon during Q2! There've been some spendings from my Malaysia Jar to cover operational expenses back home (without having to send HKD back - considering the MYR strength recently....) but all things considered, the overall liquidity is growing thanks to the new Hong Kong Jar.
